Perhaps driven by that, an enterprising developer has created a version of Windows 95 as a standalone application that can run on Windows, macOS and Linux.
The application is built on Electron — a framework for building desktop applications using JavaScript and other Web technologies — with an existing x86 emulator written in JavaScript.
The emulator can run other operating systems too; in this case, it is preloaded with Windows 95.

The app is hosted on GitHub and that also shows some kind of chutzpah as the code repository is now owned by Microsoft.
It appears to be prompted by the geek in many people and is probably a hint to Microsoft that operating systems that are part of computing history should be preserved and made available to the public.
